CHRIS DOCKINS, MABC, LPC-S

CHRIS DOCKINS, MABC, LPCS

Chris Dockins, MABC, LPC-Supervisor, received a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Southern Methodist University and a Master of Arts in Biblical Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary. Chris has experience with helping individuals, couples, adolescents, and children through a number of different spiritual and mental health related issues. He has a particular interest and heart for helping those that have a history of sexual abuse trauma, gained from his time working at the Denton County Child Advocacy Center. Chris understands that biblical counseling needs to be focused on the heart, because that is where God focuses (Psalm 51:17; 1 Samuel 16:7). It is easy to see that our actions are born out of our desires and beliefs, and scripture teaches that the source of our desires and beliefs is our heart (Luke 6:45; Romans 10:10). Chris also believes that our faith in Christ cannot be separated from our experiences in the world because we are called to be Christ's missionaries (Matt. 28: 19-20). Sometimes we can get confused when these complexities of life overwhelm us. For this reason, Chris sees that scriptural truth helps to guide people through the tough seasons of life and lead them to their true calling of glorifying God.

ERIC BRYANT, M.A., LPC

Eric Bryant, M.A., LPC

Eric Bryant is an LPC at NTCC practicing in the Richard office He received his B.A. in History from the University of North Texas and his M.A. in Counseling from Dallas Baptist University. Eric has experience working with troubled marriages, anxiety, depression, substance abuse, grief recovery, anger, and overall personal/spiritual development. While counseling adolescents at a local juvenile detention center God began to press upon Eric the importance of working through life's issues with God's, not man's, wisdom at the center. When counseling is approached with only man's wisdom in mind, we fall short of dealing with the true heart issues involved and often simply focus on behavior management. In the book of Colossians, the apostle Paul reminds us not to follow man’s wisdom that “has an appearance of wisdom”, but instead calls us to “set our minds on the things that are above”, the things of God. God helps us with this task by giving us biblical community, His Holy Scriptures, prayer, and His Holy Spirit to help us walk through life in a God-glorifying way. Eric’s desire through counseling is to see lives restored and developed by helping others walk deeply with the Lord, and “set their minds on things above”. Eric and his wife Cassie are blessed with three beautiful daughters and worship together as a family in Dallas. You can email Eric Bryant at eric@ntchristiancounseling.com

He believes people's only hope is through the gospel of Jesus Christ. He has a conviction to invite others to become more like Christ and aligning with God's heart and rhythm for life. His counsel relies on God's grace through the Holy Spirit to allow people to see their depravity and for their enormous need for a savior. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation. CARRI WELLBORN

CARRI WELLBORN

Carri received her bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Texas A&M University. She is also a certified Biblical counselor and has continued training by being an advocate through two counseling intensives with Twelve Stones. She has been married to her husband, Ty, for 24 years and she loves being Mom to their 4 children! Carri has had a love for people and truly knowing people for as long as she can remember. She has been told throughout her life that she has the gift of listening and the gift of counsel. Hearing people’s stories and encouraging them in their struggles and victories has been a natural overflow. Although she has known the Lord as her Savior most of her life, over the last 10 years, He has allowed deep levels of personal suffering and trials that have moved her to seek His Word in a new way, to find her footing in His Word and to know where to rest her Hope. Additionally, the more she met with people, the more pressing it became for her to know what God’s Word says as fully authoritative and true and how it is applied to the unique places we find ourselves in life. This led her to receive certification as a Biblical Counselor through The Association of Biblical Counselors. It brings her joy to see lives transformed and hearts comforted and healed by the truths of His Word.

DEBORAH FILIZETTI, LCSW

DEBORAH FILIZETTI

Deborah Filizetti, LCSW, has over 20 years of experience as a licensed therapist. She has a passion for helping others using a biblically grounded, Christ- centered approach while adhering to clinically sound best practices. She received a Masters of Social Work from George Williams Collage at Aurora University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Northern Illinois University. She is also trained in the use of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Deborah is experienced in working with adolescents and adults on a variety of issues including anxiety, depression, trauma, loss and grief, women’s issues, pre-marital and marital counseling, and family conflict. Matthew 22:36-40 shows us that a loving relationship with God is the most important thing in life, and the second most important thing is our relationships with others. We were made for relationship, and God uses relationships to work in our lives. He can also use the therapeutic relationship to foster spiritual, emotional, and relational healing, growth, and encouragement as we invite him into the counseling process. Deborah’s faith in Christ and her knowledge of biblical application are the plumbline of her approach to counseling. Her professional experience as well as her life experience as a wife, mother, a parent who has lost a child, and the parent of an adopted child also inform her approach to counseling and give her a unique understanding of issues related to loss and adoption.
